First Update and More Assignments

As usual, the first week of summer ball has been quiet. However, I have actual stats to report.

NORTHWOODS LEAGUE

Korbyn Dickerson - Yes he is in the portal, but is still a Card!

In two games, he is 1-7 (.143),2 r, 1bb, 3k, 1sb.

Jake Munroe - 1-8 (.125), 1 rbi, 1 bb, 4k, 1 hbp.

Will Vierling - 2-7 (.286), 2r, 1 bb, 2 k

Luca Moore - His first game is today. Come back next week to see how he is doing.

UPDATE: I’ve been informed that Josh Klug will be pitching with Traverse City. He is not on the roster yet, but I will continue to keep an eye out for him.

PROSPECT LEAGUE

Morgan Davis - 1ip, 0r, 3k

Pretty good start.

Jake Murphy - 1.2ip, 3er, 4bb, 2k

The numbers don’t paint the whole story. He came on in the 4th with a runner on 2nd and 1 out. After issuing two free passes, he escaped without anyone scoring. He came back out and threw a 1-2-3 5th inning. He walked the first two batters in the 6th and was replaced. Those two runners scored, along with another two runners. Somehow he was charged with three earned runs. The walks are concerning, but it was a promising appearance overall.

We have two leagues opening play this week. Between the two, there are nine players on rosters. Please remember, these assignments are only as good as the online rosters, and they have been known to be changed (updated) on or after opening day.

GREAT LAKES LEAGUE

The GLSCL begins play Tuesday, June 4th. There is no video streaming, but you can follow the games with live stats. The Lima Locos provide a live broadcast of home games if you want to listen.

Redshirt freshman Tagger Tyson and Thomas Howard will be playing for the Lima Locos.

NEW ENGLAND LEAGUE

The NECBL also begins play on Tuesday, June 4th, although Keene’s first game is June 5th. In previous summers, I could only follow gametrackers for the NECBL…I wasn’t going to pay to watch their streams. This season, the league has an agreement to stream “numerous” games with ESPN+. This includes all home games for Keene and Newport.

Alex Alicea, Braxton Stewart(redshirt freshman), and Jared Lessman are on the roster for the Keene SwampBats.

Mitchell Dean and Ty Starke are on the roster for the Newport Gulls. That’s one tall pair.

Dan Snyder and redshirt freshman TJ Schlageter are on the roster for the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. Snyder pitched with the Sharks last summer.

Newport and MV open the season against each other on Tuesday, so I expect that game to be on ESPN+.

The Cape Cod league is all I have left to report. They don’t start until mid June, so I saved it for last. I’ll post those assignments next week. Again, I will continue to scour online rosters looking for players and will update accordingly.
